Swelling of Hand, any tips? Medaglove?
Hi, I was diagnosed a few months ago and toward the end of my chemo is started having mild lymphedema. Saw a therapist, religiously doing massage and wrapping (I still wake up with swollen hand). I am struggling to find the right glove as most of my swelling is on the back of my hand and between my fingers/knuckles. It is minimal but painful. I have already purchased different gloves that don't give me the needed pressure on the back of my hand and I end up with more swelling. I have tried adding foam, short stretch bandage on top of it...looking like Minnie Mouse (according to my daughter). I was wondering of any of you with similar issues have tried Medaglove or Caresia glove or any other tip would be appreciated!

I am very sensative to compression levels and have to have custom sleeves and gloves. Also my hands are weird - my fingers are somewhat 'webbed' so custom gloves are necessary as OTS (Off The Shelf) cut into the 'webbing' making cuts/sores/pain. In the low compression level I have to have, they do not make OTS sleeves to fit me either. So all mine are custom Juz have a 'pocket' sewn on the back of hand that a 'pad' (from Juzo) thaf can be put in if needed. I never use the pad but I like the 'feel' with the pocket better than without.
Do you have a night garment(sleeve) or an MLD machine?

Thanks Kicks, I have a sleeve that seems to fit well but when worn alone makes my hand swell more, so I really need to figure out the glove thing. Not sure if it is for night or day (how is it different?)Therapist recommended wrapping at night and glove and sleeve during the day.I don't have an MLD machine, but interested in looking into it and if my insurance will pay.
I'll also look into the glove and pad from Juzo!
Thanks

Wearing a sleeve witbout a glove (or guantlet) will encrease hand swelling. They need to work together or. in other words just using a sleeve without a glove/gauntlet will restrict the flow from hand.
Day garments/night garments - they work on different principles. Day garments (commonly referrred to as 'sleeves and gloves) are 'active' - designed to work while we are 'up' and moving around/active. Night garments are 'passive' - designed to work while we are 'sleeping'/not moving for long periods (hours) of time.

Thanks Kicks, looks like I could use nighttime one too, cant seems to get the wrapping quite right at night to keep the hand swelling down...
