late onset neuropathy?

Options

I finished 12 rounds of Taxol almost 6 weeks ago. Was taking L-Glutamine throughout the treatments and for 4 weeks afterwards, as well as vitamin B6. I wasn't experiencing much of neuropathy symptoms. About 10 days ago I noticed that part of my left foot became numb - thankfully not the toes, but part of the heel and the outside of the sole.

This morning I woke up with two fingers on my right hand being completely numb. 5 hours later the numbness in the fingers is gone about 90%, but they are still tingly.

I'm very scared this will be progressing. I've been told that some other chemo drug can cause late onset neuropathy (don't remember which one exactly), but not Taxol.

I'll be seeing my MO in a week and a half and I will address this, but from what I've heard there is nothing they can do to reverse chemo induced peripheral neuropathy, can they? Should I call the MO earlier?

Did anybody experience neuropathy such a long time PFC?

BB

Hi BB, I had problems with neuropathy during DD AC/T and I was told to take B6, but my levels went way high and I had to stop it. I am taking Gabapentin 300 mg twice a day now. I was scripted to take it three times a day, but kept forgetting the middle of the day one, so I just take the two now. I tried to discontinue it, but my MO said that since I am symptom free that she feels it is working so I need to keep taking it. It must be working, if I miss a dose I feel it start to tingle again and get the "funny" feeling in my toes. And I don't won't it to get worse so I take it. I finished DD AC/T on 11/25 2014, but from I have read it can come back or start up any time. Get it checked out ASAP, and I hope it resolves soon for you. Cheryl

Hi BB, I'm experiencing the same thing. Had very mild neuropathy while on Taxol - at worst tingling fingers when lying in bed reading so keeping my hands elevated for a long time.

I had my last Taxol dose on 2nd June & in the last week I've found I'm getting tingly fingers after 5 minutes and I'm waking up with my left hand numb & can't blame it on a particular sleeping position. Next onc appt is 30 July, I'm not concerned enough to ask about it sooner. Well for now at least :-)

Let us know what your doc says.

I am on my 9th Radiation tx and have pain radiating down my arm and numbness in my fingers. My shoulder also hurts. Im wondering if I should be concerned. The advice I have been getting on here has been so helpful! Thank you in advance!!

My MO's PA was intrigued by my partly numb foot. She said it didn't present itself like neuropathy would do normally do. She was leaning more towards some kind of trauma, which I don't recall having. She also asked if my back was hurting. She had not real answers, just told me to call them if it gets worse or if there are any skin changes.

Hi- I also have some neuropathy symptoms starting today after my 22nd tx. I am just wondering, what treatment did they give you?
