Pain in DIEP breast

It's been a long time since I have been on here. I found myself searching for possible answers yesterday, and decided I would post. I had two failed attempts at implants. My right side was so thin, the incision line wouldn't take and it would push the implant to the surface and open up. In May 2011, my only option was too either cut the stretched skin away and have nothing, or have a DIEP completed. I chose DIEP. Everything went well with no complications. My issue is I have been have pain in my left DIEP breast (cancer side) for over two weeks now. It isn't constant but is getting to come on more and more. Has anyone experienced this 4 years later?

I have an area of fat necrosis as well as truncal lymphedema with my DIEP but no pain really, just a mild/dull discomfort with a sense of "fullness". How would you describe the feeling that you have - sharp, stabbing?

You may realize that recurrence can show up in the chest wall which cannot be palpated due to the reconstruction. An MRI is probably a good method for taking a look.

The usual rule of thumb is to have things checked out once they have been bothering you for a couple weeks, so go ahead and call your surgeon or oncologist and let us know what you find out.
