Results and More Tests
Had mammo and us that were clear, though I have a palpable lump felt by my pcp beginning of June. Sent for MRI this passed Monday.
Got MRI results. No lump visible, but a 1.5cm enlarged lymph node with "mixed enhancement". What does it mean, no clue. Anyone know?
I go in for another US next week and an appointment with the BS.
I am also seeking a second opinion because I tend to be neurotic and want to err on the side of caution,or crazy, whichever you call it.
Not sure how to process this, but fear just washed over me. I read about the 10% who are clear on all scans, only to be diagnosed with occult cancer.

I have been following your posts and have been thinking of you off and on and I hope you get some answers soon.

Thanks, me too. Waiting is just the worst part.

crm- if you have an abnormal lymph node, you are NOT neurotic. My wife had a PET/CT scan with glucose take-up (lighting up) in her opposite armpit, from where she had a cancer 8 yrs ago. Kaiser said "no followup needed" Now she has aggressive cancer. I'm NOT inferring you have a primary cancer just because a lymph node is swollen, it could be lots of things like hormones, infection. But I can tell you my wife's lumph nodes were lighting up because there was a tumor there, since she has dense breast tissue, it didn't show, untim 10 moths later, so please get it checked out.

Thank you for the advice. I tend to be a total freak worrying about it, and justify it by letting them know, I know my body and this isn't normal, so find it.
So, I had my first visit with a bs yesterday after two u/s, a mammo, and mri. Only he mri showed the node.
I go the 8th for my second opinion, because they wanna wait 6 months for my next mri, and I am not wanting to wait. I want it out.
I thank you so much for sharing, and it is awesome to see a husband on here. I told my husband this is a great insightful board.
How is your wife doing now?

I have a pretty large lump in my left under arm.. Went to BS was annoyed at my GP for sending me there he said he can't feel any lump ..I'm like Ya if i can feel it and my Gp. How can u miss it..to me it feels like. A ping pong ball it's so big and round. So he think just a lymph node.. Says no biggie but is sending me for a chest CT he thinks it's nothing I hope he Is right. My appt is now another week away

Hi Olive,
Right, if two people feel it, how is it not there?? My BS said she didn't feel anything either, welp, second opinion on the 8th...
Whys the doc doing a chest CT? Have you had an mri?
-
No MRI. I asked and was told I had a clean mammo and clean ultrasound .so no need . He is blowing me off I feel ..although he is nice.. He said he is looking for lymphs..and expects to find nothing . He is the head of a highrisk breast clinic.. I just hope he knows what he is talking about..

he thinks my so called lump is behind my pec muscle and not in my armpit area.. Says it may just be fat .. Pff

Been thinking of you Crmnsuga, I'm so sorry you don't have an definite answer yet. Hoping everything comes back okay and this is over for you soon! -
RockMama,
thank you! Just trying to keep busy and positive. I attribute a lot of my calm to the support I get here. I am so thankful I found you all.
-
Olive,
Behind the pec muscle?? Uhm, that'd freak me out more. Need I remind you , I also had clear u/s and mammo, but they got a an MRI found a weird node.
A lot of women have had clear scans and got diagnosed late.
So tell them what YOU WANT done if for nothing more than to ease your mind. You pay them for a service, to help you keep your body healthy. If u want an MRI, get it, mind you if they don't word the need properly, your insurance will not for it.
In the mean time, we will be right here with you while you wait for ct.
