TNBC, TC every three weeks with Dexamethason for three days. First course rash started day 5 and latest seven days. Had terrible genital itching and rash. Course two, rash started day three. Rash surfaced on face, hands, and upper inner thigh. Can't find anything to relieve the itching or shorten the duration. Any suggestions what others have used. I have two more courses of chemo. Would like to get a handle on this rash. Other then the rash my chemo has been uneventful. Anti-nausea meds are working great.

    Hi trackercs,

In addition to the helpful responses you're sure to receive here, you may want to check out the main Breastcancer.org site's side effect page on Rash, for tips on managing this uncomfortable issue!

We hope this helps! Please let us know if you come up with any other solutions that may help others!

Hi trackercs. I have no explanation as to why, but I often got so itchy a few days after chemo I thought I was going to crawl out of my skin. Clearly, it wasn't a histamine reaction because benadryl didn't do squat to settle it down. I found the more yogurt I ate, the less itchy I was, and I ate a lot (about three servings a day). Worth a try if you can get it down, or if not, some probiotic capsules maybe? Just a theory, but that itching always showed up when my counts were at their lowest (somewhere between day 3 and 5 usually) and I always ended up with thrush as well. All related, I think....some kind of yeast thing going on. Good luck to you. I hope it gets figured out.

on our March 2015 forum, we rub coconut oil on everything, including inside our mouth. Couldn't hurt to try. I think it has definitely helped me, and it is also a great sex lubricant.

Forgot to mention I'd always get super itchy when my liver enzymes were high. Chemo and other meds are definately an assault on the liver, so that might be it too. Unfortunately, the itch lasted as long as the numbers were high.

I am also TNBC, TC every 3 wks with dexamethasone for 3 days. Don't remember itch or rash after 1st treatment, but had itchy rash on my head after 2nd treatment. Dr gave me antibiotic. I started eating yogurt because of antibiotics. The itch subsided, but after my 3rd treatment, the itch started with my hands, would move up my arms...even my eyes are itchy. Then my feet would itch and it would move up my leg and into my pubic area. This itching starts on the 10th day after treatment. Doc doesn't think it's chemo related, but I think it's strange that this is the 2nd time and it starts on the same number of days. Benadryl didn't help, so was given a steroid (methylPREDNISolone)...end of first day and still itching. With typing this and reading above about yogurt (hadn't put the connection together). Gonna try the yogurt tomorrow. Will let you know how I make out. Forgot to mention that my incision from my flap surgery started to leak more and now I have 2 small holes on my incision. See plastic surgeon on Friday.
