    I have heard this also, if I only knew to do this beforehand.  Someone posted on that link about how iodine in our salt is not healthy but I really have no idea why they decided to not put it in out salt any longer.  Too tired to research it right now.

    I could be mistaken, but I think iodine was removed from table salt because of its potential to aggravate or even cause some auto-immune diseases. People tended to overdo the salt, hence got too much iodine. Can't remember which ones. Table salt has also had all the minerals removed in the processing so it's not the best thing for you. There's better alternatives. I try to compensate by eating iodine-rich foods.... cheese, strawberries, beans, yogurt, kombu, etc.
