Cough throughout AC cycles

I have been coughing for 3 weeks since my first AC. Anyone else experience this?

Yes, I had a cold the whole time. At 3 weeks they did a chest xray to look for pneumonia, it was clear. My cough continued and they did a sputum culture and again nothing. Get some good cough suppressants (tessalon perles are great) since coughing that much may start to hurt your ribs. Get an x ray or phlegm culture too. Hang in there!

I coughed throughout my entire chemo treatment...4 Adriamycin and Cytoxan and 12 Taxol. I was ultimately sent to a Pulmonologist who found nothing. Absolutely nothing helped my cough. The coughing did something chemo did not. It caused me to vomit ! It was difficult to even go for Dr appointments as people assumed I had a cold or flu. People actually wouldn't sit anywhere close to me, even during infusions. All of my team were perplexed. Within 2 days of my last infusion my cough began to subside and within a week it was gone. My oncologist said it was a bit of an unusual reaction to chemo....but it made me miserable and added to my fatigue...

I coughed from AC #1 until after Taxol #12.  It was so bad in the chemo chair all the nurses would ask me if my Onc had my lungs checked - which he had.  I would put 3 or 4 cough drops in my mouth at a time to try and get some relief.  I felt like I had a bad cold the entire time - I didn't!  It was awful.  My Onc really didn't know what to do about that one!  He is brilliant, but he wasn't sure!   I would throw up phlegm frequently from coughing so hard.

One night during AC I had the urge for pizza.  I got home and felt like I was dying.  It was then the light bulb went off and I realized I was dealing with food allergies.   During chemo, I became allergic to gluten/wheat and dairy.  That was part of my cough - but not all.

I am now 3.5 years out from chemo.  I am still allergic to gluten (I still get a bad cough if I eat any!) -- dairy has lessened.  I can eat a little if I don't over do it.  I write a breast cancer blog and hear from many cancer survivors who have food allergies which developed during or after chemo.  I'm not saying that is what is ailing you, but pay attention!

I have coughed since the beginning of T\C. I cough upright, but not so much laying down. Menthol cough drops help a little, but I have to have one after the other. I am having a CT scan of my lungs on Wednesday and am worried. I have expanders that are hurting a lot.....I since April 10, and I have been looking forward to the exchange surgery in September. I cannot imagine anything else coming along. Now hurting from number 3 T/C. Ohhhhhhhhhhh, please let this end
