side effects

Hi everyone, well it's been a little over a month since I started tamoxifen. I've yet to have seen any side effects, no hot flashes, no leg aches, no sleeping problems, no nausea. I'm just wondering how far into it do the side effects start?? I've alway been able to tolerate any medication I've ever been given. Thanks Ladies!!

I'd say you are one of the lucky ones. :-)

You may never have any SEs, some people are that fortunate.

But I have to say, for me, the only thing that happened right from the start was the weight gain. The other SEs came gradually, only getting noticeable after several months and bad after about a year.

speace, Hope you continue to have no Tamoxifen SEs. My SE didn't kick in until after the 2 month mark. At that point, I noticed a big loss in short term memory and recall (always used to be able to crunch numbers in my head, and that ability basically vanished overnight it seemed). MO took me off of Tamoxifen for 1.5 months to see if there was a change. There wasn't. I'm being referred to a neurological oncologist for a baseline cognitive assessment. After that, I'm going to restart Tamoxifen and see how it goes. It scares me not to take it, so I'm willing to suffer w/ a certain amount of cognitive loss.
