First timer - what to expect?? Please help

hi I had left mastectomy done in 2007 living without reconstruction really bothered me although I am small. Well I have been think about it for several years now and just decided to finally do it. I am schedule to do this in July 2015 and I do not know what to expect. I am doing a flap, the muscle from my back is being used.

I also suffer from DDD (degenerative disc disease) lower back pains as one of my disc is drying up. Can anyone tell me if doing reconstruction would make things worse?? And what to expect from doing this type of reconstruction. Please help.

    Hi Michelle, and welcome to BCO. We are sorry that you have to also live with DDD, in addition to breast cancer.

    We think this is a really good question to ask a breast surgeon who will have the experience with this. Also, perhaps consult with the doctor managing you DDD?
