I met with a surgeon to discuss the prophylactic surgery to remove my ovaries and fallopian tubes.  She gave me the option of removing my uterus as well.  After our discussion, there no substantial reasons to have it removed but the choice is mine.  I am wondering if anyone else had this question and what they did.

I kept my uterus since there was nothing wrong with it. Some women who have fibroids or some other issues sometimes have the uterus taken out too. There is a chance of more side effects with removing the uterus plus a longer recovery. My laprascopic oophorectomy was very easy only 2 days with ibuprofen.

I am 29 (brca 1) and will be having ovaries removed in Nov. I will have a complete hysterectomy as I see no need for the additional "parts". I've had 2 surgeons tell me that if I was their family member they would recommend to me a complete hysterectomy.

I had a hysterectomy in Aug 2015, not removing my ovaries, and now that my testing has come back ill be going back for a possible removal of the ovaries. I went backwards I guess you could say. Prayers for you!

Prayers to you as well. After my surgery, I decided to visit a new Oncology Gynecologist and he told me that he would have recommended the removal of my uterus based upon my other gyno problems relating to the onset of menopause. It would have made a difference in how they will treat my menopause related symptoms.
