You got this, girl. Focus on getting the ugly beast out of your body so you can start to heal. Do you have support at home

you can do this lady! I was exactly where you are 3 months ago. You will be just fine. It's terrifying, but it's a pretty easy surgery and recovery..weirdly painless. Sending healing thoughts your way!

thank you everyone. I have support at home. My husband is taking time off. I'm just so worried. The surgeon said it's very normal to be worried but everything will be ok. :)

Did you have your uterus removed with your ovaries and fallopian tubes?  I had a lumpectomy in my left breast in December 2014.  My recent genetic testing (May 2015) showed that I have the BRCA 1 mutation.  I met with the gynecologic oncologist regarding prophylactic removal of ovaries and fallopian tubes.  She told me the choice was mine if I wanted to have my uterus removed.  She told me that there is a very slight risk of getting cancer of my uterus.  I can't decide what to do and I do not know anyone who has gone through this.  I am the first one in my very large family to get breast cancer so the BRCA 1 gene mutation was quite a shock.

mwiegel5, I'm with you.  I also have the BRCA1 mutation.  That changed my surgery (April 2015) to a bilateral mastectomy (from the unilateral that the surgeon was originally planning).  Unfortunately, you are at much higher risk of breast cancer recurrence as well as ovarian cancer.   After I finish chemo and reconstruction, I plan to see a gynecologic oncologist to discuss removing ovaries, fallopian tubes, uterus, cervix, and whatever else they want.  I met with a genetic counselor and found that to be very informative, so you might consider it.  I can send you some references if you like.

llpo7, best of luck to you.  I hope everything went well.  I had the exact same surgery as you on April 16.  Doing pretty well and "enjoying" chemo.  Wish I knew then what I know now!

I am getting a hysterectomy in December but haven't had the appointment as yet. I'm healing ok from mastectomy. I'm doing the exercises. There's quite a bit of bruising on one side.
