I originally started this under a different topic & didn't have any luck getting any replies so after 2 days I thought I'd change the topic name

Hi, I am back again after 4 1/2 years. Last time I had a B9 finding from a cyst that had erupted and looked suspicious. Back at the beginning of April I notice a small indent/retraction in skin right next to my nipple on the same breast. I went & saw my GP and she didn't want to do anything about & said it was a scar from my surgery tape. What? that was over 4 yrs ago. So I made an appt with a gyn and he sent me to get a diagnostic mammo & US. Mammo showed nothing but ultra sound showed a 1.3 x 1.0 cm ill-defined hypoechoic region with posterior shadowing. I met with the BS today and I am scheduled for a core biopsy on Monday morning. I was just wondering if anyone could give any insight to my report and what I should expect with the biopsy. The BS was surprised that nothing showed up on my mammo but did show up on ultrasound and the fact that he can't feel any mass or lump. I'm a little nervous this time and am trying not to worry this much. Any insight would be well appreciated .

Hayjam, the indent could be from your previous surgery...sometimes the indents don't show up for years until your skin gets less supple or you lose weight. I had scars by my lip from a dog bite when i was 18 that are now showing indents over 30 years later.

I dont know why BS always are surprised when a mass doesn't show up on a mammogram...its quite common. My palpable 2.5cm lump didnt show up on a mammo.

Can't help you out with breast core biopsy as my core was done on a lymph node. They took 3 cores then i went and got my hair cut lol. I experienced some waves of pain but nothing that tylenol couldn't handle.

Hope someone comes along that can help you out.

Best wishes on Monday for another b9 result!

fluffycats - thank you for your reply. I had a FNA last time and wasn't sure what to expect for the core. Im not too concerned because last time they had me all worked up & it turned out nothing. I figure this is the same as last time or could be scar tissue from my surgery. I'm more nervous about the actual procedure than anything.

Funny you said you got your hair cut. I just went & got 3 inches taken off today & did some retail therapy. ☺️

Thank you again & best of luck with your treatment.

    Thank you, Michelle!

Please report back when you get a chance on how your biopsy went.

Isn't it wonderful how you feel like a new person after a good haircut lol?! Hope you found some fun summer wear to enjoy while out shopping. I will be doing some of that tomorrow myself.

Sending you happy thoughts for Monday! :-)

It's amazing how much a good hair cut can make you feel better. I did get a pair of cute sandals:). Hope you find some nice things on your shopping trip.

I will let you know how everything goes Monday.

    Hi Hayjamcam

I went for a fine needle biopsy today, for which I was nervous as hell. After they'd anesthetized me, they mentioned that they would probably also be doing a core biopsy. I felt absolutely NOTHING during the fine needle biopsy, and the technician advised me that the only difference with the core biopsy would be the sound when they "fired" the injection at the area, but I would likewise still feel nothing.

I didn't need to have the core done, but I honestly was not nervous about having it had it proceeded, after how little I felt with everything else they did. I figure with the right anesthetization, one would not feel a thing. I am sure you will be absolutely fine! All the best for the procedure!
