any suggestions ?

I have opted for foam prosthesis rather than the silicone as I get so hit, but with the double layers in the bras as well I am struggling.

Good question! I've found a lot of great information at a site created by one of the members here, Erica. It's called breastfree.org, and I read it quite a lot. All of the recommendations for breast forms are on this page (http://breastfree.org/content.php?page=20), and there are several "cooler" forms to try, including Comfort Lite from TLC/American Cancer Society, Amoena's Energy, and Trulife BodiCool. Please report back if you try one and like it. A lot of us are in the same boat.

In the warm weather I've been wearing a pocketed camisole called the Amoena Valetta that is a little expensive ($50, but you can get them on sale, too). What I don't really like about it is that the inside pocketed part is nylon mesh, not cotton. I don't think it'll be great in the heat. I still have my mediport, too, and it is really noticeable when I wear the Valetta tank.

I've always found that the best way to keep cool in the summer while wearing a prosthesis is to put it into a bathing suit and go swimming.

Metta, thank you for recommending BreastFree.org. In addition to my breast form recommendations, I've also written a BreastFree Blog post on the subject of dealing with the heat under breast forms: http://breastfree.blogspot.com/2014/07/perspiratio....

As I write in the blog, perspiration under my breast forms has been a problem for me. In fact, it's really the main problem I have wearing breast forms -- other than that, I find both silicone and non-silicone forms comfortable and lifelike. As Metta points out, it's not only the form itself, but the fabric of the bra or camisole pocket that can make a difference. Or, if I wear fabric-backed forms in a regular bra, the backing also sometimes fails to prevent perspiration.

I would love to hear solutions other women have found. I hope this thread gets lots of responses.

I avoid wearing the prosthesis on very hot days. Instead, a camisole with a "knitted knocker" in the pocket works well! And a very light woven top over the camisole to be more modest...

I always "run hot." Even on cold nights, I usually don't like more than a sheet over me. When I wore mastectomy bras and inserted prosthetics, I was miserable during the warmer months. I would end up with a heat rash on my chest.

Just a few months ago, I found these lightweight little bras that American Eagle sells that are 98% cotton. Since they are targeted to young girls, they have built-in padding that creates a nice little A cup for me. I'm happy to just have an indication of a bump even though my breasts used to be a C-cup. I barely perspire with these things on. They have softer elastic too, so they don't press on my scars. I paid $19.99 for each and bought nine of them. They're all I wear anymore. If it's a particularly scalding day, I put a little talcum powder on my chest before I put the bra on. This has been an awesome solution for me.

I looked up the name of the bra on my order form and it is "Aerie Cotton Push-up Bralette." If you type this in quotes on Google and hit images, the first couple of images are of the bra I got. Wouldn't you know it though? It has now sold out. I don't know if they will be making this bra again. I hope so because my prosthetics have been in the drawer ever since I got these bras.
