When modern medicine wouldn't work

Having a radical mastectomy on the left breast and the right breast removed as a precaution I had had enough pain and discomfort. Three weeks after the mastectomy the right side opened up so I had to go in for another surgery. The fluid under the arms and not being able to sleep prompted me to do something. I knew I had to sleep but not on my back. After days of losing a small pillow I took to bed and hunting for it in the middle of the night something had to give.

After several attempts and not owning a sewing machine I literally fabric glued the first Post-Op chest bumper. After an hour of wearing mine I felt no more stinging discomfort on the sides of my chest. I was able to sleep on my side that night and that made me very happy! I wore it 24/7 after that. It enabled me to be more mobile and not so cautious when moving around the house. Driving now was a snap. I didn't have to put a pillow between me and my staples in my chest when wearing the seat belt. If I had this directly coming home from the first operation I would say having a mastectomy was a walk in the park. You live and learn, and I have learned!

Great video that shows how you can be in comfort from day one from having a mastectomy:
