Keep Hoping for Good News...just once
I am still early in my diagnosis and waiting for results.
I had my well woman exam on 4/22. Nothing was found on my breast exam. My doctor told me based on my family history that I could have a mammogram every other year but I decided to go ahead and have the mammogram.
On Mother's Day weekend, there was a letter in the mail saying that they needed further views based on my initial mammogram. (I am 43 so this was my 3rd mammogram)
On 5/13, I had another mammogram and an ultrasound. They found 2 masses in my left breast. 1 was 1.8 cm and the other was less than a centimeter.
The biopsy on 5/27 came back positive. At this time we were still at the small, regional hospital in our area. The surgeon wanted to proceed with a lumpectomy on 6/1. We went for a second opinion on Friday 5/29 at Ellis Fischel Cancer Center in Columbia, MO. They performed an ultrasound of my lymph nodes and found 2 which were swollen. I went back on Tuesday for a fine needle biopsy of the lymph nodes and an MRI.
I got the call yesterday that the biopsy was positive and we will be meeting with the oncologist on Wednesday. They could possibly place a port as soon as next Thursday.
I'm so tired of telling everyone that we did not get the results we had hoped for...just once can't I get some good news.
I just don't understand how I feel can so completely fine and there can be something so wrong inside me.

I am so sorry you have to go through all this! We can't make the wait shorter, but the posters on these boards are wonderful and very supportive. Hopefully you can connect with others who are also going through this process right now. Be good to yourself ! -
Tamkay, I am so sorry for your diagnosis. I sat in the doctors office the day before my mammogram and told my doc that it would be a waste of resources. The next day I had a mammogram, ultrasound and biopsy which lead to the diagnosis you see below. I have not felt as good in the last 10 years as I felt the day before the mammogram. I am still in shock even as I daily drive to radiation therapy. Hang in there and good luck with your treatments

Tamkay-
We want to welcome you to our community here at BCO. We're so sorry for the circumstances that have brought you here, but we're glad you've joined us, and hope you find the support and encouragement you need, when you need it most!
The first days and weeks after diagnosis can be a blur for many. Lots of new information, little time to process it. Once you have met with your oncologist and gotten all of the information about your diagnosis, and have developed a treatment plan, hopefully you will start to feel a little more in control, and a little less despair. We have some links that we've put together that many of our members find helpful, which you can find here: https://community.breastcancer.org/forum/5/topic/8....
Please keep us posted on your appointment with your oncologist, we'll be thinking of you!

Tamkay - It is hard to believe you get such a dire DX when you don't feel sick. I think the vast majority of us got the proverbial shock treatment. I knew something was wrong when I didn't get the all clear card in the mail. I think most of us are in a fog until the treatments are done. You kind of just go through the motions. Eventually you will relax and find some peace. Just take it one day at a time. Let us know how you are doing and keep the faith.
