Zoladex injections

I am currently receiving zoladex injections and plan to eventually have a hysterectomy.  Last week after I received two zoladex injections and was ready to begin the aromatase inhibitor, I suggested my oncologist test my estrogen level.  Turns out it was 292 which is high considering I only have one ovary and that was supposed to be suppressed.  I received the third zoladex injection after the blood work that day.  My gyn wanted to have my levels checked again a week later and today the estrogen level was 15.  Any ideas as to what may have cause such a big difference.  Could it be that I metabolize the drug faster than others and since I was due for injection the day they drew blood, the drug had already worn off.  Maybe I should get the injections every three weeks instead of every four.

I also have questioned how quickly Zoldadex effects estradiol levels. Was the estradiol blood test the one you used to measure estrogen. On the day of my first Zolodex injection I had blood work immediately after and my estradiol level was 8. I had been on the pill for many years until the month before and am 48, so my oncologist said the low level could have been from the pill. I am having another estrodial test in late June so I am looking forward to comparing the results. I would love to stop the Zolodex injections if I am truly in menopause b/c the side effects for me have been difficult in terms of bone and joint pain. I look forward to seeing what other responses u get. The injection is supposed to be time released, so in your case I wouldn't thing it would have been metabolized, but I guess that's a possibility especially if you are younger and have lots of estrogen. Which AI are you taking? How's that going? There is a no agrarian suppression/AI board. Maybe post there.

Yes, it was the estradiol blood test.  I haven't started the AI yet.  My MO prescribed exemestane but wanted to wait till after the 2nd zoladex to ensure I was postmenopausal.  When she called me last week to tell me the estradiol level was 292 she also told me not to start the exemestane - it would be of no use since the estradiol level was in the premenopausal range.  Thanks - I'll try posting there.
