good medical oncologist at memorial Sloan Kettering or other?

Hi,

My first post here.

I had lumpectomy at greenwich hospital may 12.

Dx, clean margins, clean nodes, grade 3 IDC, estrogen positive, Ki67- 100...ONCOTYPE results not back yet. . I have gone to a very good medical oncologist at Yale NH and now looking for a second opinion.

Would those who live in CT or NY please recommend medical oncologists you liked.I would prefer my 2nd opinion to be at MSK but the doctor is more important. Thanks, D

hi, NYC here. I go to Weill Cornell/NYP and I feel like I get great treatment. Also for the subsequent things popping up. I have a consult for lymphedema therapy coming up. I go Sloan for their integrative program on 74th. BEAUTIFUL place. I get acupuncture. Woke myself up snoring lol.

I think I may stay with my medical oncologist at Yale New Haven because I do like him but I really want a second opinion because I really don't want to do chemo and he wants me to. I don't mind doing the 6 wks of radiation and hormone treatment but I have a very compromised immune system from Lyme Disease and after reading all the side effects from the chemo he recommended, I honestly don't think my body could handle it.


Sorry you are dealing with lymphedema. I just read about the integrative program at Sloan....there is a medical oncologist there who also does acupuncture that I am thinking of going to. Hope the acupuncture helped you Mary.

Sure thing! What are the stats for your BC? Adjuvant or neoadjuvant, er/pr+-, HER2+-?

I don't actually have lymphedema, I'm trying my hardest to avoid it. I hear you on not being sure of your body can handle it. Are you doing anything nutritionally?

I am only ER pos, all the rest negative. I don't know what adjuvant means. ( still very new to all of this!)

Yes, I do ALOT nutritionally. I drink wheatgrass juice, green veggie juices daily, high alkaline diet.... I had restarted on a mainly vegan diet but my alternative doc made me add some high quality protein like fish and chicken because He said now is not the time to be all vegan. Oddly, about a month before I found the lump, I had restarted Vit C IVs and glutathione IV's because I was just feeling unwell and I still do that and take alot of vitamins and supps. My ONCO doc does not believe in these treatments at all though.

adjuvant means chemo after surgery. Neo mean surgery after chemo. Also are u brcca+ or -? With a pr+, you'd respond to treatment. Check out this sites links on how they treat diff types. It's great that I do those things nutritionally. It baffles me how we can invest so much and be the ones getting cancer. I don't believe in Drs that don't believe in integrative approaches. Sloan posts a lot of research they've done on alternative. My cuz told me about papaya leaf extract n how it shrinks tumors n keeps your bloodwork up during chemo. I did a search and Sloan confirmed it.

I fasted 3 days prior to each chemo. And did my supplements. The onc-dietician was on board and we'd discuss which is better with various supps based on the studies.
