Felt better but now worried again...

I was diagnosed a week ago after a routine mammo and then a biopsy. Saw the BS yesterday and felt a little better. It is IDC stage 2 estrogen and progesterone positive and HER2- She says it is a "well behaved" tumor and as a teacher I think that's good, but it is still a tumor! Also, they biopsied a lymph node and it has it too! Looks like we are good to go for a lumpectomy but she wants me to have a metastatic work up with an MO. I started researching that and now I'm worried because maybe she thinks it's spread??! The MO office said they usually only see patients post surgery. So, my question is, have any of you seen the MO before surgery for a metastatic work up and what does that involve? Thanks for all your insight. I have been reading the posts for a few days but didn't have much to say until now!
