Waiting and worried

I am newly diagnosed after needle biopsy on 5/26 for suspicious calcifications in left breast. Came back as LCIS. I am scheduled to see BS on 6/9. I haven't shared any of this with my family yet. My father just had a cancerous tumor removed from his throat and is having a PET scan this morning. I will be sharing the info with them tonight. I'm so scared right now. Radiologist that did the biopsy told me it wasn't cancer but abnormal cell growth and would need to be removed. Gyno called me to say he received my report and it is considered cancer. He wasn't to comforting. I'm so concerned that it may have spread to other areas, etc. I don't think you really know until the surgical biopsy is done. Thanks for listening. I know so many of you have been through this. I am really trying to stay positive. Sending hugs and prayers to everyone.

it is considered a high risk condition. Not cancer. The area will be removed to make sure nothing else more serious is lurking. If there is not then the vast majority of women with LCIS do NOT go on to develop cancer.

Thank you Melissa. I'm just worried about the surgical biopsy and the waiting. The waiting is the worst.

The biopsy is easy and I had little pain afterwords. The waiting pretty much sucks, but it is just all part of the process:) As as far as LCIS "spreading", it tends to be a multifocal condition. It is frequently found in multiple places in the breast and even in both breasts, but this is not a "spread" like cancer..
