Platinum and Gemcitabine for metastatic TNBC? Travel?

Hi there.  I did ask part of this question in another posting, but it didn't get a lot of response, so I was thinking I would ask it under a more direct topic and add another question while posting.  Is anyone on Platinum and Gemcitabine for metastatic TNBC?  If so, how have you done?  I had ACT in 2009, and a Taxal just recently (which was a mixed response) and as someone so nicely pointed out it was not a complete failure (I have to learn to be more optimistic...I did fall short on that and I truly appreciate you pointing that out.  : ) So I am starting a new combination this week.  Just wondering if side effects were similar and if it was successful for you.  I know everyone different, but I've heard good things about the success of the combination.. 

Also, TRAVEL.  I feel locked in.  I've had 3 trips that I have anticipated taking that my kids were looking forward to that this stupid disease has made me postpone or cancel.  The one thing I told my onc is that I didn't want this taking over my whole life.  Now that this treatment is going to be weekly, I feel like I can't go anywhere.  (Yes, I can to inbetween treatments, but what if I wanted to take a trip longer).  I asked my onc and she said "oh no, you would have to establish being a patient wherever you want to go".  She said I can't even go to an affiliate location of the same hospital in the same state.  (I live in NY and want to travel farther upstate) I don't want to have to start that whole process over and establish being a patient everywhere I go if I'm only there for 2 weeks. Is there a way to get infusions at other facilities? We were supposed to go to Disney (kids have never been) and travel to Maine to whale watch.  I am determined to do this, but my onc says my chemo is indefinite.  Argh!!!  Any help or suggestions would be so very much appreciated.    I am bound and determined to not live on "it's" time.  I have things to do and a life to live.
