Did anyone have BC in their aux nodes but sent nodes were clear?

Today is my wifes 2nd day home from BMX with TE. Everything is going well, she's sore and still tired.

my question is that after the BS talked to me after the surgery he said the sentinel nodes were clear during surgery but he noticed a rubbery patch in her auxiliary nodes and decided to remove them to error on the side of caution. He said he felt pretty good that the auxiliary nodes were clear as well but he wanted the pathology on them now we've got that shred of doubt in our mind that maybe it has spread.

It's like you get some good news and then some bad news, and then some good news and then some bad news.....I want off this dang ride.

Hopefully friday comes soon and we get good news on the final pathology report.

I had 20 IST (Isolated Tumor Cells) in my sentinel, which was discovered later in the lab - I was declared clear in the OR.  20 IST is clinically node negative, and many surgeons might recommend rads, or assume that chemo (if needed) would suffice, and not look further for additional positive nodes.  My BS was adamant that I have ALND surgery due to my Her2+ status, which happened 5 weeks after the BMX with TE.  After removing levels 1&2 I ended up with a 6mm positive node further up - this is somewhat unusual, but does happen.  My pre-surgical MRI did not show any nodal activity, and nothing was felt during physical exam.  And you are correct, this is often a one step forward, two steps back kind of experience.  Wishing you and your wife the best!
