Shoulder Blade Pain/Breast Pain

Hi, I am new to this forum. I am a 25 year old female who has been having right breast pain for several years. I have also been having right shoulder blade pain for a year and a half to two years.

Recently, however, it seems the shoulder blade pain has spread to my spine in between my shoulder blades and to my right arm. It can be excruciatingly painful. The breast pain gets pretty bad as well.

The reason I am posting this here is because of the breast pain, of course, and that I read that shoulder blade pain can be a symptom of breast cancer. Is this true? My mother had breast cancer a year ago but it was removed and she is fine now (as far as we know). Also, I've been to a physical therapist and he said he could not find a reason why I would be having pain like this from his standpoint.

Can anyone help with this or has anyone experienced this?

Thanks for reading and responding if you do. Have a great day.

A little more info...I hope this helps...I have a couple hard lumps that have not gone away underneath my right breast and some hard knots/lumps on my ribs below that spot. I also have had sharp pains in the middle of my chest, though doctors don't know why (heart doctors, lung doctors). Lastly, I have noticed a change in the skin on my nipples, particularly the right one, but also the left.

I hope I'm not being paranoid, I just don't know why these weird things are happening to me.

If you have any info, please let me know. Thank you so much.

The fact that this started when you were 22 makes the odds of this having anything to do with cancer pretty astronomical. Most breast pain is hormonal or fibrocystic, especially in young women. The shoulder & back pain sound unrelated. If you are worried because of your mom you should make an appointment with a breast surgeon & discuss it.

Hi stark_reactor, Sorry to hear what you are going through, and that your mom had breast cancer. While is probably nothing, just like MelissaDallas suggests, you should set up a doctor appointment to have it checked out to ease your concerns, and get it looked at by a professional.

    We're thinking of you!

thank you both for your replies. now that i think about it, you both are right; it would have been more apparent a lot sooner than now if the shoulder blade pain was related to any condition of the breast. thanks for helping me with this! this eases my mind and i don't have to worry anymore. :)

the shoulder pain is more than likely related to a spine nurse issue. Talking with a chiropractor on that may help. Or try acupuncture. On the breast issue, yes, please see a dr to get it checked.
