I don't know where to post this but I'll just throw it out there -

When I was diagnosed at 18 weeks pregnant, I found really good resources and information on the known effects of some chemotherapy treatments on an unborn fetus. I was able to proceed with chemo during my third trimester knowing that many women had also undergone similar treatments and gone on to deliver healthy babies. What was missing from the research though, was a long-term study on the children who were in utero while the mother ingested chemo. I am now participating in a registry that follows these children that is run by Dr. Elyce Cardonick. She monitors my daughter's and my medical records periodically. This year, they have obtained funding for a child development specialist to evaluate the children. However, the specialist is located in Camden, New Jersey and I am in Vancouver, Canada. It would cost around $2500 for me and my daughter to travel to meet with the specialist but I would really like to participate in this part of the study.

I am trying to decide if it would be appropriate to solicit donations. What do you think? I'm not a person who typically asks other people for help so it feels weird to contemplate that option. Should I just forego this part of the study?

Thanks for your thoughts.
