Waiting for results and bad experience at clinic
hi
I went to breast clinic on Thursday. I had found a lump which my GP verified and also my wife felt. When I got to the breast clinic the Dr was horrendous and made me feel like I was time wasting. Firstly asked my wife ' who's this ? ' said it's my wife to which he tutted and turned his back ! This set the tone . Then examined me said there's no lump they're fine. I explained I know that my left breast has changed, the shape has changed and it has dropped and that GP felt lump , he said ' well sit up then I'll try that way' felt and grunted ' mmmm ' then stepped back looked at my breasts and said ' well no one who comes here is symmetrical of you want to be symmetrical the only way you can fix those is plastic surgery !'
I was horrified. At no point did I say I was interested in being symmetrical j was explaining the difference I and my wife had noticed in my left breast and also the lump confirmed by GP who had referred me. I had also explained that over the last few weeks I have had severe breast pain and pain in my armpit that my breast is itchy and hot and I have also broken out in a lumpy rash across my chest and neck.
I had a clear mammogram , which is fab but then the ultrasound confirmed lump and then a biopsy was taken. My breasts are v dense so probably why lump only shower on ultra sound .
Then dr saw me again and said well your mammogram was clear so you'll get letter about biopsy. I asked about breast pain he replied ' well I don't know we diagnose breast disease I don't know why it probably cyclical'
I explained for the third time it is now constant not just during my cycle and he said ' well put some ibuleve gel on it ' that was the end of my consultation
I was so upset and did complain the following day and will now be going I. To see a different consultant next week to get my results. I am sure that fingers crossed it will just be a cyst and perhaps pain is mastitis ( am 40 and long time since breast feeding but aware I could get it anyway) I guess my worry is that I've read posts where people have had clear mammograms but still been diagnosed . I just think the whole experience was horrendous . Just wondered if anyone else has had this kind of experience ?
Also biopsy left me black and blue and still getting breast pain and underarm pain as before . Ouch

Dear Boxeyr40,
We are so sorry to hear of your difficult experience. We hope that this turns out to be a cyst and we are glad that you advocated for yourself to see a different consultant for the results. Please keep us posted and let us now how things work out for you. Wishing you less worry and discomfort, The MOds

Hi Boxer-
We just wanted to check in, and see how you're feeling following your biopsy. This is such a stressful thing to go through, and then to have less than excellent care during the process just adds to the stress! We hope you're healing well, and keeping busy while you wait for your results.
Please keep us posted when you hear back, we're crossing our fingers for favorable findings!
