Breast Dimple Negative MRI
ok....in serious need of advice.
2 weeks ago I noticed a small dimple on left breast when I raised my arms. I have since noticed another smaller one on same breast in different spot and then another spot on the other breast. No lumps. You can only see it in certain light. No other symptoms. Breasts are normal looking. I saw my OBGYN who blew me off and said she saw and felt nothing, I insisted on MRI and she ordered it after my pushing wore her down. I saw a surgeon because I wasn't happy with gyn. She saw the large dimple (which isn't that large) and I follow up with her tomorrow. I was able to access mri results already and they were negative. She had told me that dimpling isn't always cancer... And with nothing showing up on the mri you cant biopsy NOTHING....hubby thinks i should take the clean bill of health and accept that my breasts are just being weird. And I just dont wantanything to be missed..
Should I push for anything further tomorrow at the appointment? Or should I trust that 2 healthcare professionals aren't worried, mri and US were normal and it's just one if those things? I just wish i knew why I have dimples!

I think you should accept that there is nothing worrisome going on. Especially since a breast surgeon has seen you and you have a clean MRI.

'You' can't biopsy something that is not there. There has to be an area that shows something somewhere to biopsy. Even when there IS something that show on a MRI/CT/PET/bone scan, it doesn't automatically mean there is a cancer there. In other words, there has to 'something' for it to be biopsied. Talk to the Surgeon tomorrow and get his/her opinion/interupptation and if it is as you say the MRI is - let it go.There are many possibilities and breast do change over time.

thank you both! I think it's been such an anxiety filled 2 weeks in having a hard time relaxing over this. I struggle with occasional pain in the left Breast so whenever it happens I get worried again and that isn't helpful,
thank you for replying! I will try to move forward! -
Please be sure to ask what the recommended plan for follow up is (what you should watch for, frequency of clinical breast exam, and MRI, mammo, us). Good idea to schedule things now, if recommended.
You didn't mention having a mammogram. I would want one done, even if you have dense tissue like I did.
My experience may not be typical, but I had DCIS with microinvasion in the right that lit up like a Christmas tree by MRI. In the left, a few benign things were found by MRI, but the DCIS found subsequently was not visible by MRI at all! Eventually, a small area of DCIS on the left was picked up by diagnostic mammogram (requested by the 2nd opinion institution), which was found to be about5 cms after surgery -- surprised my surgeon.
Best to you.

the physicians assistant at my Breast clinic told me if the radiologist doesn't concur with the pathology findings she/ he speaks up... The same goes if Breast surgeon doesn't agree with radiologist, that Breast surgeon is touching and looking at cancerous Breast tissue a lot, I think their gut feelings combined with MRI report findings are good to go on, my Breast surgeon told me MRI is very sensitive

having said that I just had a benign biopsy but I'm following up in six months to make sure everything is stables think you should at least opt to follow up in 3-6 months, I'd suggest that to Breast clinic, that would give you peace of mind and encourage you to be watchful of any changes
