Radiation 6months after chemo ended??

Options

hello I have a question last week I went to the doctors for my 6month check up. I had IDC grade 2 and extensive DCIS grade 3. I am also brca 2 positive. I had double masectomy May of 2014, onco score of 31, chemo started 6/14-12/14. Full hysterctomy in February 2015 then began arimedex in Feb also. Fast forward I go for my check up, my doctor is just awesome anyways she calls me 3 days later and says that she was reviewing my charts and sent it over to a radiologist and the radiologist said I should come in for a convo. I did today and she suggested that the chemo treated the IDC but theatgins for the DCIS were very close. That it was up to me but I should consider radiation. I feel like someone dropped the ball because they told me twice during my chemo treatment I did NOT need it, now all the sudden it has changed also is it even going to be effective? I am 35 I want to do everything I can to prevent any reoccurrence but this just seems funky. Any input would be appreciated.

What a mix up. I would be mad if they told me 6 months later I missed a important part of cancer treatment. I did have radiation after mastectomy but not for margins. I was 36 at diagnosis and they wanted aggressive approach for LVI and multifocal and multicentric cancer. I was told that radiation had to be done no later than 3 months from chemo, but that was for invasive cancer I assume. If I were in your place I would go and see another RO at another treatment center for second opinion, and if I needed radiation I would try to do it at the other place, I would not want the first place to get any of my healtcare dollars. Sorry that you are facing such a conundrum.
