Hi everyone!

Trying to navigate through the storm of confusion that is our life right now. Mom's Pathology reports came back. While they suspected inflammatory they have not been able to diagnose it since skin biopsy is negative.

However, They are going to treat it as if it is inflammatory.

Under diagnosis it states "invasive carcinoma, DCIS, and focal lymphovascular invasion" which sounds more like IDC?

So my question is what's the difference between the diagnosis of IDC and IBC?

Any feedback is much appreciated. This is all so much to take in and try to make sense of.

CT scan was today, bone scan tomorrow and MRI next week. Chemo to start this month.

Thank you loveys!

As I understand it, IBC is a special presentation of breast cancer (in my case a presentation of IDC). There are certain clinical findings that contribute to a diagnosis of IBC (involvement of more than x% of the breast and other findings that I can't remember right now). As I understand it, IBC does not have different cell structure so that diagnosis is not through the microscope, but is a clinical diagnosis.

Perhaps IBC can be ILC, although I've not run into anyone with that diagnosis.
