Bone Scan

Options

Need your input, please. I just had a bone scan and a tiny, tiny area showed up on my left upper shoulder. Results indicate that it looks like trauma. I was rear ended hard while in a taxi a few months back. Being stage 3 I am concerned about bone mets...had a CT scan too but nothing showed on that. What else could show on bone scans? Inflammation?

peace, I don't know your age or if you've been athletic, but I'm pretty sure arthritis frequently shows up and is often the problem. Also, if it's at all reassuring, bone mets if far more likely to show up in the ribs, pelvis, or spine -- not the shoulder. What was the reason for the scan? Are you having pain? Is there any increase in your TMs (CA27-29) or other suspiscious changes in blood work? If not, I would tend to accept the trauma explanation. (((Hugs))) Deanna

Thanks for your reply, Deanna. I made a typo above, it's in my shoulder blade. Do bone mets typically show in the shoulder blade? My TM's are normal.
