Ugh how do you deal with the waiting?!

I had my annual mammo a month ago. It came back dense and no change. My PCP decided to send me to a BS to get an MRI since my sister had BC. We both figured it would be a base MRI. That was a week ago, and I got a call back for a diagnostic mammo and ultrasound tomorrow afternoon. They found what could be a papilloma 8mm big. Is that big?

I know a week has passed and there is less than 24 hours, but damn, how do you deal?! I have so many questions. Will they do a biopsy tomorrow if they find it? What is the difference between the diagnostic mammo and the screening mammo?

This is driving me nuts?!

A diagnostic mammogram just has more views taken.

Try not to stress too much. Papillomas are generally benign. My guess is probably not biopsy tomorrow. Sometimes they do a ductogram to isolate which duct it is in, and I think they usually do a duct excision to remove it. The duct excision is a really minor procedure & not very uncomfortable from what I recall women saying around here

The diagnostic mammogram often includes more specific and detailed views. But the big difference (and big plus) is that the radiologist reads the film right away--you aren't sent home to wait for a call or letter, as in screening mammos (where the tech just checks the film to make sure it's useable and not blurry and sends you home to wait if it's ok.)
