3 years out and feeling lumpy

Hi everyone! I went to my oncologist yesterday for my 6 month check up. I told him that I have been feeling fatigued still and I am experiencing muscle fatigue easily. I also told him I feel "lumpy" in my right armpit/chestwall area where I had a prophylactic mastectomy. I was Stage 3C when diagnosed three years ago. He felt two 1 cm lumps and is having me get a ultrasound tomorrow. The problem with that is I was previously diagnosed with invasive lobular and it did not show up on ultrasound or mammo. I'm wondering if I should ask for an MRI.

see what the ultrasound says. If it comes back as normal and you are still concerned, you should absolutely ask for an mri! I'd ask for one

just realized your personal history of breast cancer. MRI is the most reliable test- definitely push for it. Good luck

I have the same issue. My ONC ordered a breast MRI. I thought she'd go with the ultrasound first but no point with ILC since it can't distinguish lumpyness and doesn't signal. Ask for an MRI. You can advocate for yourself and your doctor should respect that. ILC is sneaky and it was missed on my 6 ultrasounds over 3 years.

    Best to you.

If ultrasound is clear, ask for MRI. Insurance may require ultrasound first. Hoping all comes back clear. You could just ask for a biopsy. My recurrence was not detected on any imaging, but I thankfully insisted on a biopsy even though they were "sure" it was scar tissue.

My tumour wasn't found on ultrasound at all, in fact the Radiologist told me if I was his wife he would be happy for me to go home and not worry about it. Thankfully I had an MRI where my tumour was picked up. I would be insisting on an MRI!!!
