New Dx - DCI More concerned about getting coverage for care.
**Gah- IDC- no way to edit topic title that I can find- sorry about that silly typo.
Hello everyone,
I am a 51 y/o retired oncology and hospice nurse that due to life circumstance, finds herself uninsured . I noted a lump in my right breast a few months back and started looking for services that may help me to receive a mammogram. Life is strange, as it so happens that I came across a new program in the lower keys area at a seafood festival of all places. I was finally accepted into the Early Detection for Breast and Cervical Cancer program 2 months later and received a Mammogram 3 weeks ago. The radiologist informed me that what he saw on mammo was worrisome and proceeded to order a ultrasound and core biopsy the same day.
After 11 days I received my results:
A. Right breast, 4.0 cm mass, core boipsies Invasive Ductal Carcinoma
Tumor size: At least 9.2 mm in greatest dimension
B. Nottinham Histologic Score: Grade III (8points)
-Tubule Formation: Minimal less than 10% (score=3)
-Nuclear Pleomorphism: Marked Variation in size (score=3)
-Mitotic Count: 6-10 mitoses per hpf (score=2)
C. Focal possible angiolymphatic invasion
D. No perineural invasion indetified
E.Her-2 Neu study by fish to follow. 174.9
* Estrogen + (more than 95%) , Progetsterone + (more than65%) P-63 negative
I am to go next week to meet a team that appears to be at a radiation center. I am of course a nervious wreck atm . I am hoping the team are open with me and that I am not just limited to radiation therapy. I know 4 cm is a large mass but of course would love to have the main mass(and hopefuly the only one) out asap. I also know that is my nerves talking.
These forums have been very helpful these last few days . I know I will probably be here lots as these days seem soooooooooooooo looooooooooooooong. I know next Weds (appt day) will not provide all the answers but at least I will know somemting. Now to get through this week...

I am sorry you are here but you have definitely found the right place. I know most women want to rush and get that thing out asap. Use the time between now and then to research what is best for you and learn about your diagnosis. Keep us updated.

Thank you for the welcome ! I am doing my best to keep busy until next week but there are times I am overwhelmed with anxiety. These forums are a great reminder that I am not alone and these threads give strength.

2 More days until my initial appt. Woke up feeling anxious. I just wish this appt would get here so I have an idea of the type (s) of treatment will be in my near future. I hope they can give me at least an initial game plan . I predict more test though before they know what they are going to do. Bah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
