She doesn't say what stage or type it is, but only had surgery so maybe DCIS?

She makes it sound so easy and inconsequential .... Another reason why people think breast cancer is no big deal

How can she declare she is fine and cancer free? How does she know that?

Thanks Melissa. Haven't read anywhere what she had. She's lucky she caught ILC so early. Most times, as in my case, it's a lot larger than shows up on scans.

Angelia, that's the big misconception everyone has about BC. Everyone assumes everything is hunky dory after you finish treatment, and when you try to explain that you are never out of the woods, they say you're being "negative"

Debic, I know. I have a friend, who is a nurse, and even she announced on facebook, CANCER FREE, with her kids holding up signs and the whole nine yards. I guess its good to be optimistic, rather than worrying all the time, but I guess I was blindsided once and dont' want to be blindsided again. Can't stop it from coming back or growing if its still there, but guess I think I can at least be aware it might. You are so right, everybody thinks well, you had surgery, you have hair, its all over and done, whats the big deal.

Have to admit I was just as ignorant until I was blessed by the cancer god!!!! How depressing it was to find out that there is no guarantee I wont recur.

Rita Wilson is a likeable celebrity. Yet I cringe a little reading this article.

Let's face it, and here's the facts of the matter: Rita Wilson has, in many ways, very, very good fortune. She has the money and clout to get the best of the best. She has enough money to hire someone to clean her house, cook her meals, chauffer her around, do her hair, wash her clothes, pay her bills. Am I leaving anything out? She has the wealth for not just the best medical care, but also for the best in post operative care as in spa like surroundings, massages, facials, mani-pedis, you name it, however a woman wants to pamper herself, it's available to her. Now maybe she is more of a hands-on person in general, but during a health crisis, she has endless resources available to her.

So in a way, it's no wonder she can bounce back like a rubber ball. Most of us don't have the luxury of being able to hire out help or pamper ourselves the way someone of her status does. I wish her well, but I can't draw many similarities, if any, between her life and mine.
