Does size of DCIS abnormality mean anything?

Hello, I am new to this forum, and new to this world of breast cancer. I received my DX 2 weeks ago and now preparing for surgery for a mx, SNB and partial reconstruction.

I have read a lot about DCIS on this forum and I thank you all for taking the time to share your knowledge. It is something I had never heard of until I got the call back from a routine screening mammogram.

Anyway, the lingering concern I have is that my lesion was originally thought to be 10cm and following an MRI was shown to be 15cm. It has been classified as a grade 3 papillary DCIS.

I am large breasted so to some extent am not surprised by the size but I am curious as to whether the large area of DCIS is clinically significant or presents greater risk of there being a micro invasion lurking in there. My surgeons seem reasonably ok with my 12 June surgery timeframe which suits both them and me, but I can't shake a degree of anxiety that I should see if it can be done sooner.

Has anyone else had experience with a big DCIS measurement who could share their thoughts?

Many thanks
