Fibroadenomas
I'm 16 and I had an excisional biopsy in October of last year, the path came back benign. It hurts still, and its been months since. Is that normal? I know I'm extremely young but it throbs all the time. When I press on where it throbs its hard and it bothers me. My mom says its normal, but I also had some swollen lymph nodes on my underarm. Is that a normal symptom post op? This is my left breast and my right one hurts too. My great grandma on my moms side had breast cancer, her grandma (The great grandmas daughter) had breast cancer, and my dad's grandma had breast cancer. My dad's grandma also has had a lot of cancers. Now my left shoulder hurts and sometimes I can't breathe which I'm sure is part of the anxiety that I have thinking something's wrong with me. Is there?

No honey I would say, it is not normal. No reason at all to be alarmed, just need to be checked. Please tell your mom you need to go back to the doctor to be checked out. You may have an infection, or need some antibiotics. You may get the word that you just need more time to heal, but you need a doctor to check you out to be sure. Can you show the school nurse to get her opinion, and maybe the nurse could call mom and give her opinion that you need to be seen again. You could even ask the nurse to make that call to your mom. Dont worry, you will get this fiqured out! When you are young our breasts get sore at the drop of a hat!. I am glad you thought to post a question here, and best wishes to you.

We want to welcome you to our community here at BCO. We're sorry for the worry that brings you here, but we're glad you've joined us, and hope you find it to be a supportive place!
We agree with Meadow, it doesn't sound normal, and you should absolutely bring it to your doctor's attention. It could very well be an infection from your biopsy, which would explain the pain you're experiencing, as well as the swollen nodes.Or you could be having some issues with healing or scarring. Have you talked to your mom about what's happening?
We know it's scary, and we're so impressed by how well you seem to be handling these issues at such a young age! Please keep us posted on how're you're feeling, and when you're able to get to the doctor. We'll be thinking of you!
