Delayed Reconstruction Questions-need help!

I have opted for delayed reconstruction after I have a mastectomy on May 5, 2015.  It has only been 3 weeks since I was diagnosed, and I am having surgery in ten days.  I have so many questions, but have been told so little by the surgeons.  I have only had one consultation with my surgeon, and one consultation with my plastic surgeon.  At the time, I didn't even know enough to ask all the questions.  I am supposed to have a telephone appointment with my surgeon this Monday, but I notice she only booked it for ten minutes (hence the appointment time, 8:50). 

Is there anything anyone can tell me about mastectomy with delayed reconstruction?  Do they insert the expander at the time of the mastectomy?  I have heard that it needs to be inserted before any radiation is done or else it won't work.  I may have to have radiation.  What is the final cosmetic result?  I don't think I even know all the questions I should be asking her.
