NO ONE IN OUR FAMILY EVER HAD CANCER.  ONE DAY I DISCOVERED A YELLOW COLORED CRUST/SCAB ON MY LEFT BREAST.  I HAD COMPANY FOR 3 WEEKS SO I WAS WAITING TO SEE THE DR.  IT STARTED TO BLEED.  I SAW THE DR. THAT DAY.  HE SUSPECTED PAGET'S AND I SAW A BREAST DR.  SHE DID A BIOPSY AND IT WAS PAGETS.  A SHOCK.  I HAD SOME FURTHER TESTING.  IT HAS NOT SPREAD BEYOND.  I AM HAVING A MASTECTOMY ON MAY 8TH.  I DECLINED THE PARTIAL MASTECTOMY, RADIATION, ETC.  WITH THAT, IT COULD RETURN SOMEDAY.  WITH THE MASTECTOMY IT SHOULD NOT RETURN AND NO TREATMENT, IF THE SENTINEL NODE IS OK.  I SUSPECT IT WILL BE.  I DECLINED RECONSTRUCTIVE SURGERY ALSO.  I AM AT AN AGE THAT I CAN MANAGE JUST FINE WITHOUT ALL THAT.  I HAD SO MANY QUESTIONS AND SOME FEARS.  I READ SO MUCH ABOUT IT ON THE COMPUTER, IT HELPED TREMENDOUSLY AND INFORMATIVE.  WHEN SHE GAVE ME THE GOOD NEWS YESTERDAY OF NO MORE SPREADING, I WAS BLESSED AND HAPPY.  NOW TO HAVE THE SURGERY AND CONTINUE ON.

I'm sorry you were shocked SharonRose and had to go through that, but happy you got good news. That is always a "good" thing. Smile ...I was just told I have Pagets disease(it was very obvious with the whole nipple covered in hard dark scales in clusters) and I had a biopsy done yesterday to check for cancer in it. I will find out in a week or two if it's cancer but she said it's pretty obvious so to prepare for the news and she asked if I will be ok with whatever news I may receive. I told her yes as I've been doing research for knowledge and see it's fixable. I'm also going to have a diagnostic mammogram this coming Tuesday the 26th as well as ultrasound. After that my doctor wants to do an MRI. We have to take these smaller steps to reach the higher steps with my health insurance. I'm staying positive and want to make the best decisions as each step comes along. I hope this is caught early enough that just surgery will get it done with. I guess mastectomy is the way to go? I will wait and see what is actually all going on then make decisions, but I'm trying to prepare like she said. I'm thankful for this forum as it has been helpful to read through some of the things others have gone through and how it helped them. I wish everyone the best!

Good luck today Melody, I hope all your tests have good results, I had a masectomy almost 3 weeks ago for pagets, they tried first a wide excision , but margin was involved with Dcis, the pagets appeared again by the scar on the skin Within 2 weeks, so they operated again. They also took sentinel lymph nodes so waiting for path lab results due next week. I'm so hoping I don't need any further treatment.Let us know how you get on. Wishing you all the best.

hi, I had a very itchy nipple and it was quite red and shinney, after a while it bled a little crusted over then was ok again for a while, then the process started again.

    Hello fellow members:

I've listed this link below at three other threads but decided to copy and paste it to make it convenient for you. The contains 2269 scientific articles of Paget's disease of the breast that I hope you will find useful and informative.

In the interim, you may wish to visit the Society for Immunotherapy of Cancer (SITC) to see if there's anything in the works using immunotherapy to treat this disease. It is current the hot cancer treatment topic. Or, you may wish to have them include you in their mailing list should there are any new development? Here's their link:

    P.S.

This VIDEO link talks about the use of immunotherapy in cancer treatment (current hot cancer treatment topic) and fascinating to watch.
