I just found out my oncotype score came back a 0 ! Best news ever. So although I won't be needing chemo (just radiation and tomaxifin) I now am waiting for the results of the brca gene test! Ugh the waiting game is torture!

Hi Jujube2, thankyou and I had my first oncologist visit today and now with the low score she is just suggesting radiation and tomaxifin. But there's one glitch in this whole thing. She is having me tested for the BRCA gene. Only because we have no history of cancer in my family, but we don't know about my mom's mothers history because she was adopted. So, if I come back positive for the BRCA GENE she's suggesting I have a double mastectomy because she said I have a 85% chance of getting another breast cancer on e left side or some other cancer. So now we wait the 2 weeks for that result. Ugh

speace, so you are having lumpectomy and radiation , then tamoxifen provided you are braca neg.?

I still think you should celebrate that oncatype!! I will say a prayer that you are braca neg!!!

Thankyou so much. I've already had the lumpectomy and a sentinal lymph node removal. The lymph nodes were negative , no cancer spread. And the lumpectomy tumor showed I had 85% cancer in the tumor and 15% had started to become invasive. But she removed all the cancer she said. So now depending on the brca results , if it's negative I can just continue on with my cancer treatment of tomaxifin and radiation. If brca is positive then I may have the double mastectomy. And thanks for keeping me in your prayers! ! I'll take all I can get . 😊

    Hi Speace

That is so great on your Oncotype score. I also had a lumpectomy and am waiting for my Oncotype score. My Mom had breast cancer with very few females in her family so I got tested for BRCA since I have 3 sisters and 2 daughters. I got that result back fast and thankfully it was negative. Wishing the best for you.

    • That's so awesome for your brca test!! I hope my result come back quickly also. Looks like we almost have the same thing. I see my radiologist for the first time tomorrow, I can't wait to get the ball rolling on this and be done with it and have it be a distant memory. Even though tomaxifin will be the norm for a long time!!! I hope all goes smooth for you as well!!! Xoxo
