Hello Everyone:

Am wondering if there's anyone out there who has ELECTED NOT TO DO chemotherapy or radiation AFTER SURGERY especially IF your decision was based on you having clear margins and negative nodes.

Would like to hear from you, and would appreciate if you can share whether you still feel the same now, at this point in time, of not doing either.

If you did change your mind later,  did you finally go for chemo or radiation.

If so, did either or both work for you?

NOTE: Please REPLY ONLY if you are in the above situation, and NOT REPLY if you wish to lecture anyone in this thread who has chosen their decision as they deem fit. Thank you.

I chose mastectomy over lumpectomy to avoid radiation. My choice was based on family history of melanoma, the fact that I have hundreds of moles, and if I had radiation it would raise my chances of getting it by roughly 40%. I talked to all my Drs, including my dermatologist and internist, surgeon and plastic surgeon...and personal research. As for chemo, I am waiting on Oncod. FISH, and HER 2 tests, then will have to make that choice.

Welcome to this thread tjh.. thanks for sharing your decision.  I hope the results will be better than expected. You are far braver than I, and  stronger too.  I've discovered many others who travelled this journey before us have been true survivors and most willing to share their experiences so that we can walk a better one.

I wish you well, lots of hugs, optimism and despite whatever's happening,  its temporary.  This too will pass... have a fabulous spring @!@
