I switched back to tamoxifen (no problems) from letrozole (pain). My oncologist is fine with that....he said as long as you are taking something! He doesn't push the A.I. route unless you are very high risk or stage 4...or have something that tamoxifen would make worse. That said, I did the UK cancer test and for me, there wasn't much difference using an A.I. against tamoxifen.

camc7444, my situation is very similar. My DCIS was 3 mm. I am completeing 16 radiation treatments with no boosts. RO told me she did not think boosts were needed due to the size of the tumor. I am 67, will be 68 in a few weeks. Tamoxifen scares me and I am now reconsidering my decision to start the drug. I finish my radiation Wed. so I need to decide soon.

Wildflower, I did not know Tamoxifen was an option. I thought it was just for pre menoopausal women. I will definitely look into this. Thanks, and let me know if you have any other options :)

Hi I am going through a similar situation. Can I ask what decision you made and if you are happy with it it so far. I am pretty sure I am going to forego the treatment and just live a healthy life style.

froggiema, a healthy life style is good in any event but realize many, many of our friends on these threads had very healthy life styles pre-BC. Just saying to weigh all your options as you say you are going through a similar situation but your profile is either hidden or you haven't filled it. You will find no one will judge your decision as you must certainly do what you feel is best.

tgtg....I know yours was an old post but the first Ive read that argues the point about weight loss and exercise vs anti hormone therapy. Its also just does not make sense to me. I believe weight loss and excercise are key in preventing recurrence. Why in the world would I take a drug that makes both difficult ! This is a personal decision and I respect all others!

I chose not to take AI or do radiation. My onco doc said that's completely ok since my proliferation rate was very low. BUT he wants to see me often. So I'm seeing him every 6 mo for now. My bc characteristics where good. That's important to look at. If your cancer is aggressive that's different but mine was not.

Had a health professional tell me that if you walk at least 30 min a day that's as good as taking tamoxifen. Had more than one person tell me that.

So for now this is my decision. I feel good and am very healthy. Keeping my weight good and eating plant based diet. Can't hurt to have healthy lifestyle
