How fast can grade 3, Her2+ cancer spread?

hi, I am thinking of joining the TDM1 clincal trial, but it would mean having to wait up to 3 weeks to start treatment. Since I have a very aggressive form of BC, I am worried that it might spread in the mean time. Has any body else had this dilemma, and any info out there about how fast this cancer can spread within a few weeks? Thanks! I am very glad to have found this forum.

    Hi!

I was diagnosed with Grade 3, Her2+ cancer, and I didn't start getting treatment (neoadjuvant chemo) until three weeks later. I don't think it made a difference. During those weeks, I got my port installed, I got a PET scan, and I got a MUGA test to check my heart health. I also went on a family vacation that had been planned months in advance. In any case, by the end of chemo, the MRI and PET scan showed no sign of active cancer.

    Hi Elaine,

Thanks so much for your response. I also asked my BS today. She said she didn't think 3 weeks would make a difference. She did mention that one might see a change in 6 weeks however.

    Good luck and good health!

Mye- have you made your decision yet?

I am also faced with the decision of the TDM1 trial. I am meeting with my MO tomorrow morning to discuss the details. Waiting much longer will impact my decision. My surgery was 2 weeks ago and I am hoping to start treatment as soon as I can and would not want enrollment in a trial to delay that. There is a very helpful TDM1 group here that has provided me with so much information.

    Wishing you all the best!
