If you complain enough, you get a PET scan. UGH.

I am finishing up H and P, and have been having weird pulling sensations in my mid back under the shoulder blades - sometimes a muscle twitch. I have an area of scar tissue on chest wall near axilla that has given me 1000 heart attacks since it appeared post implant exchange. This week it decides to feel weird and tender. It's been ultrasounded in the past, and results were - scar tissue.

But given my calls to onc about the weird back stuff and in conjunction with new sensations on that scar tissue - I win the bonus prize - a trip to a PET scan. I've never had one, and am almost blind with terror. Has anyone had one post-chemo?

I have always been annoyed that I never got a staging scan when I was diagnosed, and now that I'm about to get a scan, I wish I never opened up my mouth. Is it better to know than not know? Sorry, just venting. I am so frightened.

Yup, I've had a PET scan before and after chemo. After chemo, it showed NED. It's a low-key scan compared to an MRI. If I have mets or a recurrence, I'd rather know than not know. But, that's just me. Good luck!
