Just had a bone scan because I've been having right hip and thigh pain especially when sitting. Not as bad when I'm walking around. After the bone scan they did X-rays of my right femur and left humerus. Now I wait for the results...Ugh!!!!

Good news, my bone scan showsno change from August so the new pain I'm having is not related to the cancer!!

Terrij, Here's a big WOOHOO for you. I hope you find the source of the pain (and get relief from it), but I am very happy that it is not from cancer.

Just had echocardiogram and CT scan yesterday. Last one was done 8 months ago. Doctor came in with the nurse and I initially thought, oh no it's bad news that's why they are both here. But the doctor had a smile and said, "Your test results are excellent, no evidence of disease and heart function is normal." He said the Herceptin and Perjeta infusions are doing what they are supposed to do. I got very emotional, I was just expecting something not good. Having lost my mother and MIL within four months this year and another aunt, and going through chemo and masectomy, to hear my doctor give me some good news was overwhelming.

I had a bone scan last week and my oncologist said there were no changes since the last scan. Well I got a copy of the scan and it shows two new spots, one on my left humerus and one on my right femur. Both are about 2 cm and at the end of the report there was an addendum that these were there subtly in August but not mentioned in the report. I'm so confused! My tumor markers have dropped again to 30!

Is 2 cm in the mid shaft of the femur serious? Does this mean surgery? I see my oncologist on Monday, hoping to get some answers

Ill tell you terri, my Onc is starting to scare me with the apparent lack of attention she pays to some things. I would definitely demand a straight answer on that one! JcFree, thatis great news and I would of been bawling! That is terrible about your losses. I am so so sorry....

50sgirl andartist at heart, Thank you for the kind words. I absolutely am taking deep breaths and going forward to enjoy life in the moment. I did cry as soon as my doctor told me the good news, I looked over at my husband and he was crying too. Hubs told the doctor that he just made our day and a good ending to this hard year we've had.

terrij152 definately bring this to your doctor's attention asap. I had three small bone mets which are gone now, just shows scar tissue on the scan my Onc said. My Onc did tell me that if I get more bone mets that he would treat them with radiation as a new line of treatment. Hopefully, if these are new mets that your treatment can be done without surgery.

Terri - I certainly can relate to your post. I had "surprise mets" mentioned casually on a report as stable when they were never mentioned before. They've been there for over 9 months it turns out and perhaps even longer because we had no imaging to compare to for a while. I've also had things pop up bone scans that turned out to be arthritis when compared to a CT scan. Wishing you the best but bear in mind that what shows up on bone scans are not always mets but needs to be investigated.
