Can't have MRI until period starts but it's super late. Help?

I was diagnosed three weeks ago and have spent that time waiting for slowwwwww test results. The last thing my doctors are waiting on is the breast MRI which I can't schedule until I get my period. Which is now 12 days late. I'm not pregnant (husband had a vasectomy 4 years ago). I'm sure it's the stress of having freakin' cancer, but how do I get unstressed enough to get my period? I feel like I'm in this holding pattern while this little (2.6 cm) super-aggressive (Ki-67 50%, HER2 positive, Estrogen positive) tumor poisons my body.

Let's just say "relaxing" is probably not an option. And also, who is my main point of contact for stuff like this? My breast surgeon? My oncologist? My primary care doc?

Any insights or advice?

Thank you <3

    Hey :)

I'm so sorry to hear about your DX *hugs*.

I'm almost in the same boat as you. I'm waiting to get my MRI. I had to push back my appointment twice because I was so late. Gotta love stress pushing back ovulation!

If you have a nice GP, you can get a script for Prometrium. That will start your period. Some docs don't mind giving it, while others aren't a fan. My doc was always nice about it because my cycles are so long and wacky (PCOS).

Aside from that, all you can do is try to keep bust to keep your mind off it. I know I'm preaching to the choir haha.

Fingers crossed that Aunt Flow comes soon!

Christa, do you know who requested/ordered the MRI? I'd start with that doctor. While I recently had to wait for a specific point in my cycle for an eval for a new (not very suspicious) lump, they didn't make me wait once I'd been biopsy diagnosed (granted, I was breastfeeding at the time so that may have been why since who knows when I would have gotten it), but I'd check in with them re:the delay and just see if you can get it done already regardless!! Make them give you a good reason why if they tell you you still have to wait. And lots of hugs, this really is a terribly hard time.
