Hello,

I was diagnosed with stage 1a mammary carcinoma in December. The pathology stated mammary carcinoma mixed ductal with lobular features. I also had extensive area of pleomorphic lcis. I was dx with pleomorphic lcis in April of 2014 and was having (what I thought was) a prophylactic bilateral mastectomy. I was then diagnosed after surgery. What bothers me is it did not show up on any of my previous screenings (MRI, Clinical exam, Mammogram). So I would think it acts more like lobular cancer. I was told it is treated as a ductal CA. The docs don't seem too concerned about the lobular features since my oncotype came back low. I was just wondering if anyone else was diagnosed with this, and if so what was your treatment and how are you being screened for recurrence? Thanks for allowing me to air out my concerns!

I've just been diagnosed...[preliminary] stage IIB with 2/10 nodes positive, after what was to be a prophylactic mastectomy.  Still reeling!!  I meet with the oncologist on Thursday.  I look forward to discussing this unusual situation with anyone else in the same boat.

    Hi gkodad,

Wondering how your treatment is going and I notice that you are in Bradenton, FL. May I ask where you are receiving treatment? Did you go to the Moffit Cancer Center by any chance? We are considering going there for my 78 yr old mom who also has invasive mammary carcinoma, mixed ductal but primarily lobular. She has not yet had surgery (we rec'd the news on Dec 23... Merry Christmas!) We know it is grade 2, and i suspect possibly stage IIB. Receptor report has not been completed by lab yet. Would be interested in hearing about your experience, and looking for recommendations for specialists. Thank you.
