Cancer in both breasts

if you were diagnosed with cancer in both breasts did you have surgery on both at same time?

    I was recently diagnosed with IDC in right, and IDIS in left. I underwent bilateral mastectomy with reconstruction on 3/19. Strong family history of cancer. Awaiting genetic testing and genomic testing on tumor. Preparing for chemo(already recommended) in about 3 weeks. ERPR positive, KI 88%, HER2 neg. Stage 1B. Micromets to one of six lymph nodes.

    Yes, Bilateral breast cancer = bilateral mastectomy at the same time and then at a later date, bilateral reconstruction. HTH, GG
