I am trying to decide if I should have a hysterectomy, I started having periods again, I have been on tamoxifen, (almost two years) and my cancer was estrogen positive.  Anyone go through something similar?  I am 41 years old, my recurrence score was high before I had chemo (the only reason I had chemo), no lymph node involvement, no family history.  I am not planning on having anymore children, but I keep getting conflicting information from my doctors.

    Hi kytylove,

This is a difficult decision.Have you had genetic testing as well? You may want to read this Q & A: Prophylactic hysterectomy and this Hysterectomy instead of Tamoxifen.

Wishing you many answers from others here!

    Warmly,

Thank you, this whole experience has been a bit surreal, my diagnosis was pretty great considering, then I got my oncotype score (43), which is what determined I needed chemo, so I did chemo, and now almost two years later my period comes back......thanks again for the articles, I will read them.

    Hi there,

I went through the same thing you did a couple of years ago.  I was on tamoxifen for a couple of years and then they switch me to anastrozole and my breast cancer was estrogen positive with no lymph involvement.  A couple of months after starting anastrozole my period came back which was the last thing I wanted being ER+.  After much consideration and research I had a hysterectomy and I have no regret doing it.
