Hair regrowth after chemo

My wife was diagnosed with BC. As part of neo-adjuvant therapy, she had gone through 6 cycles of Taxotere + Caboplatin + Purjeta. Herceptine will continue for next one year. After 5th treatment of Taxotere, her hair started coming back but they are like baby hair - very thin and wispy. Before chemo she used to have long & dense hair. Will this give way to more natural permanent hair ever?

Though hair loss and regrowth is different for every individual, we would like to know if anybody faced similar experience. We read in some forum that folks use Nioxin. Does it help in anyway? We will appreciate any input/sharing of experience.

Thanks

It is fairly common not to see robust hair growth for a number of weeks past the final chemo.  Sometimes continuing on Herceptin can inhibit hair regrowth, but this is not universal.  The first hair that grows in can be devoid of color, more gray, sparse, uneven, etc.  Some people cut off the new hair since it has most likely continued to be affected by the chemo drugs.  Mine was a bit wispy and once my hairdresser cut it to uniform length it actually looked thicker.  I am linking a hair timeline from a member who, first was smart enough to have a hair timeline - lol!, and who also had TCH.  Click on the link in the post by lago - Dec. 19, 8:39 p.m.  I think there are dates in the corner of each picture.  I did not use Nioxin, didn't like the ingredient list - but I did use Bosley products and took Biotin to encourage my hair to grow.
