Amenorrhea taking Tamoxifen
Anyone else premenopausal taking Tamoxifen experience amenorrhea? I've had only 2 periods since I started taking Tamoxifen in June 2014. I'd love to hear from some other ladies experiences taking Tamoxifen.
Thanks ladies,
Gia

I was just about to start a similar thread and call it Tamopause. I started tam about a year ago, was fairly regular (although a little longer cycle than pre-dx, 30 days rather than 25, which was fine by me!). Then after 6 months I went about 6 weeks between, then back to normal for several months then a period in late December and then nothing for 3 months. Then, two days ago, hello heavy period. I'm hoping it's slowing down today, but it's like 3 months of stuff all at once. It's not to the point of calling the doc, but I might call if it continues like this another day or two to get my iron levels checked. -
Thanks Lojo for your reply,I booked an appointment with my gynechologist to get things checked out again. The last time was September or October and my endometrial lining was thickened but then I got my period very heavy for a month then lighter the next month and ver scant the month after that and nothing since then. I don't know it's scary when things aren't regular. I may wait another year and just get a hysterectomy especially because I'm 100% ER positive and 90% PR positive.

Lojo - heavy period, call your mo and maybe your Ob/Gyn. When on Tamoxifen, they need to know about heavy periods.

I hate this wondering when my period will start. This is only my second month taking it. After bouncing around google I was shocked to find out that tamoxifen is used as a fertility drug. Kind of scary...after 23 yrs with my DH we both knew my cycle completely...but now hubby is going for his own surgery...

I'm glad this topic exists! I started Tamoxifen Feb 27th and am 3 weeks late for my first period after starting it. It sounds like the menstrual cycle is all over the place for pre-menopausal women who start it. My oncologist said it's normal for the cycle to be interrupted so I'll just give it more time. I'm 48 and close to menopause, but prior to this I still had monthly cycles. I look forward to hearing other peoples experiences!

I started taking tamoxifen on December 3. The last period I have had was December 25th. Before that, I had very regular and very heavy periods. I'm always waiting for it just to start again out of the blue!

I also noticed I'm feeling a little edgy so I'm wondering if I'm "stuck" in a PMS cycle?

I started tamoxifen a year ago and my periods immediately spaced out 40-48 days. But I never skipped one. Then my last period came after only 22 days. I emailed my onc asking if it was normal and this was her reply. I thought she told me before that spotting should be checked but I haven't had that anyway:
YES, your period will be irregular all over the chart due to Tamoxifen -- too close in between, too light or too heavy with the cycles and a combination of them all, and sometimes none for several months, and then rebounds with prolonged heavy one or maybe just spotting -- so you do not need to see OBGYN for this.

Hi! My periods have become really irregular and very light. This makes me nervous as I am hoping my fertility has not been compromised by chemo. However I know that many women on tamoxifen have irregular periods, or their periods stop all together. Still makes me nervous though!
Did anyone's period return to normal/regular after finishing Tamoxifen?

So I got my period today (2 months late). I'm also 48 and was not menopausal when I started tamoxifen. Will keep this group posted since I have really benefited from others sharing their experiences
