I was diagnosed last week with IDC. Yesterday, I found out the rest of the information. They're not sure if I'm grade 2 or 3 but I'm Estrogen Positive, Progesterone Negative, HER-2/neu is 3+. KI-67 is borderline. At least 6cm area of DCIS and they are not sure how large the area of IDC is but they do believe its under 2cm.

Because of the HER-2, I'm opting for double mastectomy. I don't want it to come back if I can help it. I was hoping to have a nipple/skin saving mastectomy, but the PS said that I will not be able to keep the nipples because they are too far away from the blood supply. He'll be doing a reduction as well as reconstruction. I think the the thing that bothers me most is that I will never be able to feel my breasts again. I know that's not as important as living.....but I can't help but be sad about it. I know that my surgery will take place in about 4 weeks. Can someone point me to a post/list that will spell out everything that I'll need after surgery.

PS will perform either a DIEP flap reconstruction or TRAM flap. It depends on the arteries available for improving bloods supply. I may not have enough by belly button since I've had an umbilical hernia

repair twice before.
