    How may I be added as I just had my BMX 12 days ago? Would love to connect with others going thorough same. I still have my drains in. I had a BMX with tissue expanders placed and alloderm on April 10, 2015. Eventually will have implants.

    Welcome, breastfriend2u to the April Surgery Sisters! mysunshine48 had the same surgery as you on the same day and we have quite a few April sisters just after you who have had BMX + TEs. I hope you get your pesky drains out by the end of this week, as you've had to endure them long enough. When is your PS planning on giving you your first fill?

    well for me it was almost a good day, still have my drain but im ok, better than rushing it. i had 10/11 nodes :( at least one was good . im stage 3, so now they mention chemo :( hope im tough enough!!!

    Downdog, your thoughts on the "Are you healthy?" questions are so much like mine. I actually told the nurse at my primary physicians that I was the healthiest person ever except for the small problem of my breast cancer. She didn't quite know what to say after that lol.

    thanks for the well wishes! Went for marking today and the anxiety set in! Glad to have some Xanax😁Have a late surgery @3 so not looking forward to not eating or drinking after midnight 😞 I hope everyone does well with your up and coming surgeries and for good recoveries for all!

    Daylily- with your April sisters here, you will be tough enough. Surgery and chemo are different for everyone, so there's no need to assume the worst. For me, surprisingly, chemo has been much much easier than surgery.

    Breastfriend, I had the same surgery on April 10. I have surprised myself on how well I have done. Been to the plastic surgeon and surgeon and both say all is good. The plastic surgeon did a 400 cc fill at the time of surgery. Tubes are out. I suppose fills will be over the next few months. Even though I had 2 lymph nodes removed, both were clear. But my Mammoprint test was high, so I will be having 4 rounds of chemo. But, if that is it and I can get off this road and onto my normal life after that, I will plow through it.

    How are you doing? Welcome to the April Sisters group. It is amazing how supportive we are for each other. My 9 year old grand-daughter calls it "Girl Power"!

    Daylily, Darn lymph nodes. You are tough....and we are here for you! Like my grand-daughter said. "Gill Power". She even dressed all in pink and went to school. She made survivor ribbons. She is a sweetheart.

    Breath, listen to your doctors and just do it. I am facing chemo too. Yucky, but we will get through it!

    Had my pre-op surgery appointment with the hospital and anesthesia today.  I am relieved to see how caring yet professional everyone was.  They were all about making the experience stress-less for me.  Now, if I can only get through two cardiac tests and a blood draw to qualify for surgery on Tuesday.  It is amazing to see how many April Surgery Sisters are able to quickly get back on the computer after their surgery.  I hope I have my wits about me that quickly.  We are all different but what great examples you have all been.

    DayLily, Going from 1 node to 10 nodes is hard to hear.  As you mentioned before, the treatment plan would probably be the same.  My node involvement responded very well to A+C neo-adjuvant chemotherapy.  You are ER/PR positive so your doctors have a lot of tricks up their sleeves.

    Hope everyone is recovering nicely and good luck to those headed for surgery.

    Got all four drains out yesterday the two on the left felt like getting stitches, I you got this I thought to self, but I have to say the right side not so much. The tissue was starting to grow to the drains apparently it decided to heal faster. Gotta say I wanted to pee my pants a little by the time he was done pulling them two naughty guys out. Feeling a lot more free movement today.

    Greetings to all, As my surgery draws near (just a little more than 24 hours), just wanted to check in with all of you. The past few days have been an emotional roller coaster. My sisters have now both stepped up to be with me. I feel blessed. I went to Super Cuts today to have my color touched up. Decided that gray roots would add to my misery in next few weeks so now they are gone. I know it sounds superficial but it will help me. I told the stylist about my upcoming surgery & said I'd be back next week when I couldn't wash my hair. It's the little things that will make me feel human.

    Outdoorswoman, I celebrate your freedom from drains! Lynn, your steady recovery is a inspiration. Downdog, thanks for this vital thread. I feel as peaceful as I can at this point. Souther mother, I'm sending positive thoughts your way. There are some really brave women out there

    God bless to all of you. If I don't write for a day or two, just know I'll touch base on other side. I'm glad the waiting is almost over. You're right -- it's the hardest part -- so far.

    Evelyn- much peace be with you. How wonderful both sisters stepped up. You must feel very loved. And that must be because you are very lovable.

    Great idea on the hair touch up. Every thing you can do, little or big, will help you fret less, and feel more confident. You sound strong. You have got this. Between your sisters there and your sisters here, we have got your 6

    DayLily15, I know it's difficult to get the news on your nodal status, and I am sorry to hear about your results, but you are definitely tough enough for whatever they'll throw at you. Lots of girl power here to support you and I think you'll surprise yourself with your toughness by digging deep and you will inspire others. You have a great attitude, which will help manage stress and boost your immune system.

    SoutherMother, fingers crossed that you qualify for surgery on Tuesday! Good luck with your tests.

    Hi all, I'm 3 days out of BMX with straight to implant reconstruction. They took 2 nodes and both are clear. I was definitely out of it for the first 12 hours, but am feeling better with each day. I was in hospital for one night. Yesterday I went for a short walk outside  and I doubled that distance today! I've still got a long road ahead, but can see the gradual progress!

    We can do this!

    Hello everyone! It's been a few days since I've been on here. Keeping busy. Took my daughter to a All time Low concert tonight and now I have 5 more days till surgery. It's been a looong week. The waiting is torture. There is alot of surgeries this week and next. I wish those who had surgery a speedy recovery and those waiting calm and peace.

    Happy Friday everyone!  I hope recovery is going smooth and nerves are not too bad.

    I'm getting very nervous about my upcoming sx.  I've been waiting a month now, and a month ago it was so far away.  Now the date is getting closer and I am starting to make arrangements, its become too real.  My tummy is upset every morning, and I am getting weepy during the day.  I am doing my best, I do work full time so that keeps me occupied.  But I'm scared to death.  I have done all my homework, research, and am prepared for all things that can happen. I think too prepared at times. Oh well, I think I will have some cheese with my whine

    AudreyB...my surgery is next Wednesday and I feel like I have been waiting forever. I was diagnosed March 20th. But it was in the beginning of March that this all first began. I can not believe it's now 4 days away. This week went very slow for me. I also work a part time job but my stomach has been so upset everything I eat goes right thru me. I have gone thru the gammitr of emotions but went to the doctor and he put me on Valium for my anxiety. It works better for me than Xanax. I also wasn't sleeping and that helps. I still get up in the middle of the night, though. The hospital has called to tell me final arrangements and what time to be at the hospital so it's all becoming very real. 5:30 am!!

    Everyone at work chipped in and got me this huge basket of all sorts of things from robes and slippers to magazines and candy and books and cookies and all sorts of goodies. I was so touched and felt so loved.

    I wish everyone a happy and calm weekend. It'll soon be over!!

    Thank you Lori. My nerves really are shot. My dr is not very forthcoming with anti anxiety drugs. I have six Xanax left and am saving them for surgery week. I'm hoping to get more next week. This all just sucks.

    Hello,

    I was wondering if any of you ladies have noticed post anesthesia side effects at all? I had my surgery on April 1st (pbm) . Since then I have been so bloated, I look about 4 months pregnant.

    In addition to that the skin on my arms is peeling off like a bad sunburn, my hair is wildly curly, falling out like crazy and a frizzy mess! My vision went all blurry and it was fine prior to surgery.

    I am just curious if these side effects have happened to others? If so, how long does it take to get the toxic stuff out of your body? I would love any advice from other surgery sisters! This is the first time I have ever had any surgery so I don't know much about these things!

    Oh my goodness Audrey, have you communicated your anxiety to your doctor? That's just insane that they won't help you. My primary prescribes me some emergency xanax due to panic attacks and she's been good about refilling those each month since this began in March. Last week when I had my pre-surgery consultation with the PS they gave me a prescription sheet to fill prior to surgery. Most is for after surgery but she said to feel free to use the valium the night before to help me relax. I'm sure I'll need it because even though it feels like it's been forever getting here, the closer surgery dates get the more nervous I'm becoming.

    hello sisters,

    1st day post-op for me! Lots of pain in my belly from the fat harvest especially when getting up !I was going to shower but , took binder off of belly and near about fainted! Thanks to my DH for getting it back on,! As for breast lift side really bruised and swolle! I'm not sure demerol is doing much for pain!
